So it's been a bit of a crazy season for me this year. I have a ton of new stock pieces waiting to show their faces but everything else has been getting in the way of that! Here's a sneak peak of some of the raw castings. Hopefully it won't be much longer til their official debut:
I've been in the studio nonstop preparing for two Patchwork Shows- Long Beach this Sunday- Nov. 2nd and in Santa Ana on Nov. 30th. If you are local to the area I urge you to come by and say hello! There will be 150+ artisans and there is no better way to get your holiday shopping taken care of than buying from local businesses!
In addition to never sleeping any nights ever, I've been working on my courses to becoming a (drum roll please..) Graduate Gemologist! This week, I am at The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Carlsbad, CA taking my final diamonds lab class. By the end of this week, I will have completed all of my diamonds courses. Ideally by January- I will have completed by gemology classes and will then have a wealth of knowledge and will want to talk your ear off about inclusions, opals, scintillation and refractive index. This is a very exciting step for me and I'm looking forward to getting to share and educate every chance I get.
One more bit of exciting news- I am currently in the process of switching over to being a more sustainable and environmentally friendly business. About half of my bridal stock is now made with recycled gold and almost all paper products I use are now recycled. I cannot truly say all of my pieces are made from recycled materials, but in time they will either be 100% recycled or fair mined. As we are already dealing with such precious natural materials, this was an important and necessary step and I am looking forward to utilizing more sustainable practices in the studio.
