Columbia Gem House

Columbia Gem House offers consumers Fair Trade Gems that are closely tracked from mine to market to ensure that every gem has been handled according to strict protocols.

These protocols include environmental protection, fair labor practices at the cutting and jewelry factories, and a tight chain of custody that eliminates the possibility of treated gems or synthetics being introduced into the supply chain. The program also includes promotion of cultural diversity, public education and accountability.

After the rough gems are mined and carefully sorted into quality categories at the main office in Vancouver, Washington, the best qualities are sent for cutting to the company's Fair Trade cutting factory in China.

Post-consumer recycled gemstones include sapphire, ruby, spinel, emerald, garnet and zircon in single-stone sizes. Currently, mine-to-market options include sapphires from Montana and Australia.

Nineteen48 offers responsibly mined and fully traceable colored gemstones from Sri Lanka, Malawi, Australia and Tanzania. They sell to private and trade customers, both in the UK and overseas, supplying everything from individual gemstones to large quantities of gems for wholesale or retail. Capricorn Gems offers Central Queensland opals and other gemstones that can all be traced to the producing mine. They know the precise details about the way in which these gemstones are extracted, cut and prepared for sale. All gemstones are cut in a responsibly run cutting facility in Thailand.

Moyo Gems is a collaboration between the non-governmental organization Pact, Nineteen48 and Anza Gems, with input from the Tanzanian Women Miners Association (TAWOMA) and a blockchain addition from Everledger.

They offer responsibly sourced gemstones from female miners in Umba Valley, Tanzania, and empower women miners to work safely, mine better, improve financial security, and create stable, equitable markets for fair trade.

Lewis and Clark Sapphires

Lewis and Clark offers responsibly mined Montana Sapphires in a rainbow of colors. As they mine they carefully reclaim the land after extracting the sapphires. Once the topsoil is stripped off, they fill in the hole, spread the top soil back in place and plant grass seed to return the area to its original natural beauty.

Superior Gems

Chris White, the owner of Superior Gems, mines Montana sapphires himself and has all of the stones cut in a responsibly run cutting facility in Sri Lanka.
